This week i have increasted my list to 92 and have managed to get some new shots that i hope you will enjoy.

It was Wednesday when the rain did not stop in the morning so i decided i would not go out birding even it being my day off and wife at work and children at school oh no i went shopping with out being asked instead. The time is 12 noon and i start to make some lunch for my wife (what a great husband i am) did i forgot to say but akll the housework has been done as well. What is that i hear my phone has just alarmed, it is a grape vine call reading that there is a Avocet at Pulis pond.

Only 2 miles from home I set out ( I did do her housework i am sure she can make her own lunch as i did buy lots of food at the shop earlier). The Avocet was there and what a loverly bird to bring my year list to 92 and a lifer what a great day and still got home to make lunch and a few more browny points, i must have enough for a toaster soon!

Thursday i have work all day but a spare hour opens up around lunch time and the sun is out i can not waste this chance. Grands Maries is a private pond with a loverly tree lined walk going around it. the peolpe who own it do not mind me using it and it is a great place to stand and watch smaller birds (some of which i can now ID).

We are very lucky in Guernsey because we have a lot of different habitats which you can visit all in the same day making it quite easy to see 50 different birds in a morning.
Some of the best places in Guernsey are the Clarie Mare reserve which is has a good size pond with a nice size reed bed. The colin Best reserve which is a marshy headland area with a nice little bramble lined walk.
Vale pond which is a larger pond with marsh bed, Silbe nature reserve which is a lovery little wooded walk. the cliffs and headland at pleinmont point which are great all year round and are allways the first point of call for a lots of migrants. Lots of are beaches are also very good.
Guernsey is just a great place to live and to do birding.
